This ASUS RoG Strix GL502VS-DB71 laptop has to be the “steal” of the century at only $1700. Mobile Pascal in the form of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 along with the Intel i7 6700HQ CPU and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. I was also lucky enough to get a Samsung SM951 (MZVPV256) 256GB NVMe SSD for […]
Amazing. “High Bandwidth” +140 MHz Core Clock OC in MSI Afterburner = 1911 MHz boost clock in ARK: Survival Evolved: MSI Afterburner settings from the above run:
Received my 3-slot and 4-slot NVIDIA GeForce GTX SLI HB bridges today! 2-slot coming soon. Benchmarks, etc. to come! Installed with 2x EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 FE: Lights out!
1080 in the house! So far, not proving to be much of an upgrade over the TITAN X…but it is new and shiny! Current Specs: Intel i7-5960X CPU @ 4GHz (Corsair H110 280mm Liquid CPU cooler with 2x Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000), G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series 32GB 2800MHz DDR4, EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 FE SLI, […]
The game is awesome and it has a great in-game stats readout! SLI support isn’t really baked, yet (the 365.19 driver disables it for the game, in fact) but it still runs really nice on a 5960X @ 4GHz and a single TITAN X with no OC.
Tested the tesselation improvements from AMD Catalyst 15.6 Beta to AMD Catalyst 15.7 using TessMark 0.3.0 – on Windows 8.1 x64 with a 4770K CPU/16GB RAM/Gigabyte R9 290X 4GB (GV-R929XOC-4GD) – went from 7850 points to 8292 points. Pretty huge!
Decided to give my secondary PC a boost (it was running a 750 Ti) – picked up EVGA’s newer (released January 2015) GTX 970 – the SSC. It came out along with the GTX 970 FTW+ – which is the same card with a slightly higher factory overclock and a pre-installed backplate. $45 more for that? […]

Look what showed up today! I was one of the lucky few that ordered direct from Acer early Wednesday morning. So far – so good. This thing is perfect. Detailed impressions soon – it’s a workday so I just have BF4 on “Spectator Mode” until I have free time later tonight. No dead pixels or […]
I picked up a BenQ XL2420G 24″ G-SYNC monitor a few weeks ago based on extremely positive experiences with BenQ XL2420TX and XL2420T monitors. I’ve been extremely happy with it. Along the way I’ve found a few solid “tweaks” that are not the easiest to find – so I am consolidating them here: Monitor […]Tags: BenQ, calibration, Display Pilot, G-SYNC, GSYNC, ICC, ICC Profile, Monitor Calibration, Nvidia, tweak, XL2420G
