Tested the tesselation improvements from AMD Catalyst 15.6 Beta to AMD Catalyst 15.7 using TessMark 0.3.0 – on Windows 8.1 x64 with a 4770K CPU/16GB RAM/Gigabyte R9 290X 4GB (GV-R929XOC-4GD) – went from 7850 points to 8292 points. Pretty huge!
Had issues with Robocopy – found that EMCopy is a better choice. Download it here.

Decided to give my secondary PC a boost (it was running a 750 Ti) – picked up EVGA’s newer (released January 2015) GTX 970 – the SSC. It came out along with the GTX 970 FTW+ – which is the same card with a slightly higher factory overclock and a pre-installed backplate. $45 more for that? No thanks. Bought the backplate separately for $20 and away I went. 🙂
More pics/info to come…for now – bask in the glory that is Samsung GDDR5 and a 71% ASIC. Not bad!

Look what showed up today! I was one of the lucky few that ordered direct from Acer early Wednesday morning. So far – so good. This thing is perfect. Detailed impressions soon – it’s a workday so I just have BF4 on “Spectator Mode” until I have free time later tonight. No dead pixels or QC issues that I have noticed, yet!!

Picked up a couple of NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X cards for SLI upon their release on 03/17. Received them today – along with 32GB of G.SKILL 2800MHz DDR4 memory (F4-2800C16Q-32GRK). Replaced my tri-SLI EVGA GTX 980 SC setup and my 16GB of Corsair 3000MHz DDR4 (CMK16GX4M4B3000C15). So far, so good. 🙂
Memory stable (using MemTest Pro):
Boosting to low 1400s with my GTX TITAN X SLI:
Uses some juice:
Intel i7-5960X CPU (Corsair H110 280mm Liquid CPU cooler with 2x Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000), G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series 32GB 2800MHz DDR4, SLI NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X, Creative Sound Blaster ZxR audio, Samsung 850 Pro SSDs (256GB; 1TB), and a 2TB Western Digital Green WD20EARX 5400RPM HDD on an MSI X99S XPOWER AC motherboard inside of a Cooler Master CM Storm Trooper full tower – powered by a Corsair AX1500i power supply (1500W; fully modular) with braided cables.
Picked up a couple of Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 PWM 140mm fans to upgrade the cooling capabilities of my Corsair H110. Slapped them in push configuration and voila – shaved about 10 degrees Centigrade off of my 5960X temps!
Also, replaced my Seasonic X-1250 1250W PSU (for no other reason other than my desire to have the best and to use the digital interface) with a Corsair AX1500i 1500W PSU. Cool.
Loading up the PSU:
3DMark Fire Strike Ultra
The requisite pics of my rig are below; along with my config. Enjoy.
Specifications / configuration:
Intel i7-5960X CPU (Corsair H110 280mm Liquid CPU cooler with 2x Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000), Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3000MHz DDR4, Tri-SLI EVGA GTX 980 SC 4GB, Creative Sound Blaster ZxR audio, Samsung 850 Pro SSDs (256GB; 1TB), and a 2TB Western Digital Green WD20EARX 5400RPM HDD on an MSI X99S XPOWER AC motherboard inside of a Cooler Master CM Storm Trooper full tower – powered by a Corsair AX1500i power supply (1500W; fully modular) with braided cables.
